2012 Doug Yost Challenge a huge success
Written by Justin Hickson, Contest Director
We had another great contest this year! We had a total of 27 pilots and we flew all five categories plus a four minute free program! Many thanks go out Spencer Avionics for being our gracious host again. Quint and his staff did an awesome job going above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. Matt over at Leading Edge, the Spencer FBO, did an out standing job making sure everyone received their contest fueling while the jets and transcient aircraft came in thoughout the contest. A very big special thankyou goes out to Sharon Gifford for doing a super job with registry and scoring. Craig and Sharon just returned from the World Advanced Aerobatic contest in Hungary last weekend. If it wasn't for Sharon's hard work we wouldn't have had a great contest!
Low clouds slowed things a bit up in the mornings, but once the weather cleared we cranked out all the flights! Dick Shultz was our chief judge, Lyn Bowes of Chapter 80 was our Chief Judge for the second flight.. Thanks go out to John and Lynda Morrissey for coming up to help with judging. We ran a bit late on Sunday, but the weather cleared out and we were done by 3pm. Many people had to leave to beat the weather so the awards ceremony was small and short. Thanks to Tom Kerns, Craig and Sharon Gifford for stay late and helping pack things back in the club trailer.
